FUND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The purpose of the Fund Development Committee is to act as an advisory group to the Board of Directors regarding any fundraising initiatives for The House. Further, any requests for participation in fundraising initiatives must pass through the Fund Development Committee.

Meetings: Monthly ~ Term: 1 Year

FUND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To help create an annual fundraising plan that will benefit The House

  • To increase sponsorship opportunities

  • To review and evaluate the plan annually

  • To generate new ideas for fundraising initiatives

  • To evaluate fundraising initiatives that involve monetary support for The House

BOARD DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The purpose of the Board Development Committee is to maintain a full complement of directors for the corporation and to recruit candidates for board service when vacancies arise; likewise to recognize and nurture existing board members by providing them with opportunities to develop and grow as leaders.

Meetings: Monthly ~ Term: 1 Year

BOARD DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To recruit and present a full slate of candidates for the Board of Directors prior to the Annual General Meeting

  • To ensure that new Board Members are provided with an orientation

  • To develop an ongoing list of applicants for board and committee service based on an assessment of the types of skills and representation needed

  • To evaluate, upgrade and educate directors on service with a volunteer board on an as-needed basis

  • To review the structure of standing committees to the board and to make recommendations on assignments for committees and their chairpersons to the Board Chair, as well as to assist the Board Chair in ensuring the effectiveness of committee structure by the first meeting following the Annual General Meeting

  • To plan and execute all arrangements for the Annual General Meeting

  • To conduct an annual review of by-laws and make recommendations to the Board by December of each year

FINANCE COMMITTEE

The purpose of the Finance Committee is to oversee the day to day financial management and record-keeping of The House’s receipts and disbursements.

Meetings: Monthly ~ Term: 1 Year

FINANCE COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To develop an annual budget, prior to the commencement of the fiscal year, to be approved by the Board of Directors

  • To present a monthly financial statement to be reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors

  • To ensure an Audited Financial Statement is prepared and approved by Board of Directors at the Annual General Meeting

  • To review insurance coverage for The House annually

  • To ensure the annual Charity Return is completed and filed with the Canada Revenue Agency

PUBLIC RELATIONS & MARKETING COMMITTEE

The purpose of the Public Relations & Marketing Committee is to oversee the planning, implementation and evaluation of all agency communications/public relations initiatives and to increase the visibility and recognition of The House.

PUBLIC RELATIONS & MARKETING COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To plan, implement and evaluate an annual strategic communications plan that outlines goals, key messages, targets and various initiatives designed to increase the visibility and recognition of The House

  • To examine other volunteer recruitment, recognition and retention initiatives in the community

  • To monitor, evaluate and modify the communications plan as the opportunities arise throughout the year

PROGRAM COMMITTEE

The purpose of the Program Committee is to act as an Advisory Group to the Board of Directors regarding programs and services of The House.

Meetings: Monthly ~ Term: 1 Year

PROGRAM COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To recommend to the board any changes in policy or establishment of new policies pertaining to the delivery of programs

  • To identify and analyze issues that impact the delivery of programs

  • To ensure that The house is compliant with all applicable standards

  • To educate The House regarding current issues, and to best determine how to disseminate information to volunteers and/or clients

  • To generate new programming ideas, the related document needs, and determine how the needs can be addressed by the Board of Directors. In addition, to provide input and knowledge regarding available funding, grants, or groups who could be of assistance

  • To review and evaluate the programs and services provided by The House

  • To develop ongoing methods of program evaluation

  • To monitor the recruitment needs of the agency for its various programs and offer suggestions and solutions in regard to attracting new people

TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE

The purpose of the technology committee is to act as an Advisory Group to the Board of Directors regarding any technology planning, procurement and maintenance initiatives of The House.

Meetings: Monthly ~ Term: 1 Year

TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To provide recommendations to the Staff and Board of Directors on new technology purchases

  • To develop a technological roadmap of the needs for The House

  • To ensure proper maintenance of currently owned hardware

  • To provide training and support to staff on an as-needed basis
